So I know it's been forever since I last updated. I literally have not been running since. Sad, I know. But before you burn me at the stake, I am choosing this week to start up again as punishment so check back tomorrow evening (if I am still alive) to find out how it went!
In the meantime, hope everyone had a fabulous 4th of July weekend! I certainly know that I did! Unfortunately it is back to reality, but starting the work week on a Tuesday doesn't seem that bad - I could get used to this!
So until next time, whenever that might be, keep smiling!
All your life you were only waiting for this moment to arrive

Shin splints already?!? It can't be!!!
So yesterday was Day 3 of training for me. The warm up walk felt fine, but I knew once I started running that something was not quite right. Pain in my shins that never really went away until sometime after cool down and stretching. My mom works for an orthopedic who has done numerous surgeries on her feet and was (well continues to be) my brothers doctor for a number of work and sport related injuries. So after I was all finished for the day, I described to her everything I was feeling, when, and where and after she talked with the doctor today, he thinks it sounds like I have shin splints. As he put it that "even though I am doing everything right so far", it is my body telling me "I am still doing too much". Although personally I don't see how. So for the next few times I go out, I have to massage the muscles after stretching before I start, put on some Ben Gay (or a similar product), do my routine, and then stretch when I am finished as per usual. If that doesn't help to clear things up after a few days, it'll be time for plan B....which is still TBD. I'll be going out again tomorrow so we will see how things go.
But in the words of Tom Petty, "I'll stand my ground and I don't back down." But I do have to be careful!!
In other news, I now have a new laptop. My first one - a Dell Inspiron 15 and she is red and pretty. A rare treat for myself!
The website is now up and running for One Warrior Nation Radio. The only thing left to do is design the DJ pages, but I kind of need my brother for that one so he can do his. I don't feel it's fair to have mine up and then he doesn't have one yet. See? I can be a nice sister some of the time. Unfortunately (well maybe not for him) , our paths haven't crossed since Monday due to his being on night work.
So until next time, whenever that might be, keep smiling!

Week one - here we go
Well hellotie there!
It's been a while since I've done this blogging thing. I was just thumbing through some old posts of my Live Journal (talk about old school) and figured I would start fresh. I didn't want to get rid of the posts on there from 5+ years ago just to start over again because it's memories. My past. Corny, I know. But I didn't want to expose them to the world either. I like to reflect on them on my own, share bits and pieces as necessary to people, chuckle, and then move on.
Anyways...on to business. The reason for starting this (other then another outlet for my loud mouth) is to share a few things that I would like to invite you to follow in the journey with me. So grab your knapsack and let's hit the road of good times!
First off - I am currently in training for my first 5k. Some of you might be thinking, "But Jen, you're a Fatty McButterpants and out of shape...have you totally gone off the deep end now??". The answer is why yes, yes I have. However I came across the Couch to 5k program online. The day I found this, I had contacted a fabulous friend of mine who had just so happened to recommend the same thing to me. The 5k I hope to be running in is the same day they have the Baltimore Marathon, however it is not part of the marathon. On that same day which they have named the Baltimore Running Festival there is not only the marathon, but the Maryland Double, a half marathon, the 5k, team relay, and a fun run for the young'uns. And for me it's not about placing, it's about doing it. I started Monday. And then was going to skip yesterday and continue to Day 2 of training today, but the weather report had some big storms forecasted for today so I opted to do Day 2 yesterday (Tuesday). Well, guess what??? NO STORMS!!! OK that's fine. But now I am sitting around on my fat ass blogging instead of running today. But at the same time I have to remember to take a days break or so to let my body rest. And believe me, I think the pain is really going to set in tomorrow and I won't be able to walk. But you know what I have to say to that? BRING IT!!! The mental motivation I have had so far is incredible and the feeling I get when I finish my training each day is just as pleasing. The second story - my brother and I have started an internet radio station. This blog will also be featured on my page when I get the website finished...one of these days. Check it out, it's a really nice blend of music and the whole basis of the station is that the music is truly controlled by what our listeners want to hear. So find us on Facebook, at One Warrior Nation Radio, or go to our website http://www.onewarriornationradio.com. From there it will take you to our temporary homepage with instructions on how to tune it. SPREAD THE WORD!!!
